Maecio Gomes was born in Recife (Brazil) where he accomplished Classic studies and at the age of
22 he graduated in Law at the Pernambuco Catholic University (UNICAP).
In 2005 he won a scholarship for a Master's degree in opera singing at the Conservatory Antonio
Buzzolla, moving permanently to Italy.
In 2006 he made his debut in the role of Atar (in Salieri's opera Axur) in Munich and Salzburg and
in the meantime, also debuted in the role of Tamino (Die Zauberflote)always in Salzburg. He
continued his concert career in Europe and in Brazil by changing voice and entering then in the
Lyric Spinto repertoire. In the meantime he was awarded for the excellent result in vocal studies at
the Conservatory getting a mention in the form of a Scholarship from the Kiwanis International. At
the same time he attended several courses and master classes in Europe with some of the names of
the lyric such as: Illeana Cotrubas and Jaime Aragall. He finally completed the two-years post
graduate course in Lyric at the Conservatory Antonio Buzzolla getting 110 and the praise.
From 2007 to 2010 he performed in many concerts between Brazil and Italy, finally entering in the
Spinto repertoire.In 2011 he was finalist of the Rolando Nicolosi's Competition (Rome).
In 2012 he made his debut in the role of "Radamès" (Aida/Verdi) in a new production at the Theater
of Strasbourg, in Paris(Theater André Malraux) and Bordeaux (France) and in Bad Sackingen
(Gloria Theater/German) conducted by the Italian conductor David Crescensi. In the same year he
debuted as "Manrico"(Il Trovatore/Verdi) in the Theater of Rousse (Bulgaria)under the conduction
of Nayden Todorov.
In june 2012 he performed as principal soloist in a large "Gala Concert" Opera in Lviv (Leopoli)
performing arias by Verdi and Puccini with the Orchestra of the National Theater. In July 2012 he
sang the role of Manrico (Il Trovatore) again, sharing the stage with soprano Michele Crider in the
Festival of Opera (Solothurn/Switzerland). In 2013 he shared the stage of Verona Philarmonic
Theater with soprano Amarilli Nizza on the occasion of a Gala Concert. In march 2014 he sang the
role of Manrico for the third time in Padova (Italy) and the same year he made his debut as
Pinkerton /Madama Butterfly in the Civic Theater of Schio (Italy).
In december 2014 and January 2015 he made his big debut in on the role of Luzio in Teatro Lirico
Giuseppe Verdi ,Trieste (Italy); the opera is "Das Liebesverbot"(Wagner)under the baton of the
Polish Conductor Oliver Don Dohnanyi. During 2016 to 2020 Mr Gomes has started some coaching
with Mr Zancanaro on the Verdi and Puccini repertoire and he has also taken part in many concerts
around the world, among other countries: Italy and Brazil.
